Texas Sergeant Arrested After Admitting Placing Video Camera Inside a Women’s Bathroom and Filming Underage Girl

A former Texas police sergeant has been arrested after he was accused of placing a hidden camera inside a bathroom and recording an underage girl.

Jon Matherne, 52, was arrested and charged with invasive recording Wednesday.

Matherne resigned from the Pearland Police Department after he learned of the investigation in late August.

According to documents, a family member reported to authorities that the girl had been recorded in a bathroom used primarily by underage girls.

It is unclear exactly which building the bathroom was located and how the camera was discovered.

The former sergeant admitted to hiding the camera when the family member confronted him about it, according to police documents obtained by Click2Houston.

Matherne ‘took full responsibility for what has happened’ when he was confronted by authorities, documents show.

He said that he ordered the camera in 2017 for an ‘alternative purpose’.

He added: ‘the camera did record naked images of a juvenile female in a bathroom,’ documents reveal.

Matherne was employed with the Pearland Police Department since 1996 when he resigned.

He was taken into custody and held at Brazoria County Jail before being released on $3,000 bond.
